The impact of narrative approach in improving listening skills development for the second level students of the Institute of Arabic Language for non-Arabic Speakers at the Islamic University of Madinah.

أثر المدخل القصصي في تنمية مهارة الاستماع لدى طلاب المستوى الثاني في معهد تعليم اللغة العربية لغير الناطقين بها بالجامعة الإسلامية بالمدينة المنورة

This research sought to achieve the following objectives as Identifying the listening skills that must be possessed by the second level students at the Institute of Arabic Language Teaching for non-native speakers at the Islamic University in Madinah, Knowing the availability of listening skills among students at the second level of the Institute for the teaching of Arabic language for non-speakers at the Islamic University in Madinah, also Preparing a list of the foundations of designing a program based on the narrative approach to develop the listening skills of the sample group. It also aimed to identify the impact of a program based on the narrative approach to develop the listening skills of second-level students at the Institute of Arabic Language Teaching for non-speakers at the Islamic University in Madinah.

The researcher followed the descriptive approach and the semi-experimental approach. The research sample consisted of second-level students at the Institute for Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers. To achieve the objectives of the research, a questionnaire was prepared with listening skills, teacher’s guide, learner’s book, and test, and the researcher applied it to a sample of (21) students of the second level at the Institute.

Based on the analysis and interpretation of the results of the research questions, the following conclusions were reached:

1- Production of a final list consisting of three main listening skills which resulted in fifteen (15) points of – appropriate listening skills for the second level non-Arabic speaking learners of the Islamic University of Madinah.

2- That the availability of some listening skills among second-level students at the Institute of the Teaching of Arabic Language for non-native speakers was low.

3- The researcher came up with a list of foundations for designing a program based on the narrative approach to develop the listening skills of the sample group.

4- Statistics showed a difference in results between the pre-research evaluation for the listening skills for the second level individuals and the post-research evaluation، with credit to the post-research.
