We attempted through this study to shed light on the heritage spaces in the old city of Tetouan, in terms of qualitative and quantitative inventory and description. This is because they are a cultural heritage that the city of Tetouan enjoys, and a cognitive reservoir representing the local identity, especially in light of the fragility that it has been exposed to recently, as well as other motives related to mismanagement of local cultural affairs in the city. The study revealed significant neglect in the care of most of these heritage spaces, especially those with communal benefit or public use, such as traditional ovens, hotels, public squares, craft neighborhoods, etc. While very few of them have been restored and preserved, they serve as a developmental model in the old city of Tetouan and a distinctive tourist destination, but they remain very few compared to the importance of the fabric of heritage spaces in the city. And this calls for urgent intervention to save, preserve, and restore these heritage spaces with all their cultural components. Our study aims to draw attention to this critical issue related to this tangible cultural heritage with its architectural and artistic elements, as well as intangible heritage such as rituals and practices performed in it.
