The study deals with the reality of applying total quality in Sudanese university libraries. With the aim of identifying the reality of applying total quality in those libraries, after total quality has become closely linked to university libraries due to its benefits in improving and developing performance and quality of services provided to beneficiaries by workers in university libraries. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used the analytical descriptive method and the case study method, and the questionnaire was used as the study tool to collect data, as it was distributed to a number of workers and beneficiaries of Sudanese university libraries. The study sample included four Sudanese universities, of which two are national, namely the library of the Omdurman Islamic University, the library of Sudan University of Science and Technology, and two state ones, namely: the library of University of Gezira and the library of University of West Kordofan. The data was analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software.
The study reached several results, the most important of which were: the inadequacy of the prevailing organizational culture in the studied libraries and the organizational culture that is consistent with the requirements of applying total quality in terms of: leadership, organization, continuous improvement, and innovation. And that the budget allocated by the university administration does not meet the needs of the library. Based on the previous results, the study recommended: Putting the right person in the right place, with modernity and innovation in the quality of library work and striving to implement it as much as possible, carefully setting the budget to ensure the effective use of available funds, and obtaining grants or a special project that serves the goals of the library.
