Environmental protection is a topic of significant concern on both the international and regional levels, as well as within the national legislative frameworks of countries worldwide. The international effort to safeguard the environment dates back to 1926 with the Washington Convention, and since then, both international and domestic legislation have continually evolved to address environmental issues that arise periodically.
This global concern has extended to encompass various components of the environment through detailed and comprehensive agreements involving numerous countries around the world. The evolution of this effort has manifested in the form of regional and bilateral agreements between nations. The problem of environmental pollution with all its components is increasing due to the development of industries and means of transportation and the lack of sufficient budgets to combat and treat the effects of environmental pollution. We have reached the following results:
– International interest in the environment is constantly increasing due to the connection between human life and its surrounding environment
– The international community has become involved in joint cooperation to protect the environment due to environmental problems that cross borders
– Man has paid special attention to studying environmental problems, especially the pollution caused to the seas.
The research followed a methodology of comparing national legislation and international agreements and deriving the goals that the national legislator seeks to achieve or that countries collectively seek to achieve and protect the environment from pollution.
