This research aims to study the active participle in selected examples of Al-Mutanabbi’s poetry. The researcher followed the descriptive analytical approach, showing the prevalence of semantic units, the relationship of words to each other, and the meaning of the word within the context.
This research deals with the forms that indicate the active participle and the forms that are not in the form of the active participle but indicate what it denotes, benefiting from the explanations of the Diwan and studies that dealt with the Holy Qur’an and other classical speech. It aims to extrapolate the forms of the participle and study them semantically and rhetorically, showing their effect in Meaning, and this is done by mentioning the opinions of ancient and modern linguists about the meanings of the different forms of the active participle through selected poetic examples from Al-Mutanabbi’s poetry.
The importance of the research is highlighted by the fact that it studies a linguistic phenomenon that scholars talked about in the past, and which still calls for the efforts of those aspiring to explore the depths of meanings, and it clarifies the disagreement surrounding this topic, which in turn led to the difference in the opinions of linguists, ancient and modern. It unveils the efforts of ancient and modern scholars to discover the meanings of buildings in Arabic.
