دور لجان الزكاة في التمكين الاقتصادي ” لجنة زكاة نابلس المركزية أنموذجاً “
This research addresses the topic of the Central Nablus Zakat Committee, highlighting its importance and role in economic empowerment. Due to the significance of the subject, the research is divided into an introduction and three sections. The introduction discusses the role of zakat in economic empowerment. The first section examines the role of educational projects by the Nablus Zakat Committee in economic empowerment, while the second section focuses on the role of health projects by the committee. The third section discusses the role of the ongoing charity project (waqf) in economic empowerment by the Nablus Zakat Committee.
The Central Nablus Zakat Committee was chosen as a model for economic empowerment due to several features:
1- It is one of the earliest operating institutions in the governorate, targeting a large number of employees and workers across various specializations within its multiple institutions, possessing comprehensive infrastructure and qualified staff.
2- It is one of the largest and most significant community institutions in Nablus governorate, providing a wide range of community services.
3- It is one of the most responsive community institutions to the needs of poor and marginalized families.
4- It possesses extensive cumulative expertise across administrative, financial, technical, public relations, and project management domains, operating with concepts of planning, evaluation, and follow-up.
The study elucidates the term “economic empowerment,” which refers to striving for individual financial self-sufficiency through various means, eliminating dependency on others. The study also clarifies the role of the Central Nablus Zakat Committee’s projects in economic empowerment by creating job opportunities for graduates and providing them with training.
The researcher employed both inductive and analytical methodologies in this study, tracking all projects of the Nablus Zakat Committee and their role in economic empowerment. The study did not address certain jurisprudential issues related to the role of zakat in economic empowerment, such as investing zakat funds, because the Nablus Zakat Committee does not engage in such investments. The research focuses on the committee’s role in economic empowerment.
