The Role of Improvisation and Memorization in Minimizing Linguistic Fossilization Phenomena among ESL Learners(A Case Study of ESL Learners at University of Gezira, Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences 2022)

The study aims to contribute in minimizing of linguistic fossilization phenomena on ESL learners’ through two teaching strategies, memorization and improvisation. The Participants perceived the strategies and activities used in lectures Hall.  The sample was 21 years old English language learners at Gezira University Faculty of Arts & Human Sciences. They had studied English as basic subject, but most of them had a previous learning focused on traditional way.  The researcher adopted descriptive and analytical methods. To analyze data researcher used (SPSS) program. The Study revealed that, improvisation is has an effective way to enhance creativity and problem-solving skills, improvisation can be a helpful tool in language learning and fluency development, and Memorization is a valuable technique for retaining important information and knowledge. The researcher was recommended that, Teachers should be encouraged students to be more creative spontaneous language use in educational contexts. Teachers should be increased awareness of cognitive and linguistic interactions. Teachers should balance between memorization with critical thinking exercises, such as problems solving in language context.
