Problems of Including the Meanings of the Deleted Sentences When Translating the Holy Qur’an

This study aims to know the grammatical and semantic obstacles in rendering deleted sentences in the Holy Qur’an, as deleting sentences is one of the most prominent types of deletion in the Holy Qur’an, which is that the sentence is deleted in writing while its meaning remains understood from the context of the Qur’anic text, and this is something that is repeated in several verses of the Holy Qur’an. The study compares three translators’ versions by Muhammad Abdel Haleem Saeed, Abdullah Yusuf Ali and Saheeh International. The importance of the study lies in the fact that it examines the ability of the translators to insert the meanings of the deleted sentences grammatically and semantically by interviewing the three translations. This study follows the descriptive and analytical approach according to the nature of the study and uses other methods as required by the study. The study has come up with important results, including: The three translators, to a large extent, applied the proper strategies to convey the meaning of the Holy Quran. Translators are unequal in conveying the exact meaning of the missed sentences. They properly, succeeded to interpret the intended meaning of the most samples. However, they failed to process others.
