The study addressed the topic. Metonymic imagery and its denotations in the poetry of Hassaballah Mahdi Fadlah is the title of this study, in which we will present all types of metonymic images in an applied study through which the various methods taken by the poet to clarify his idea through this type of graphic imagery. The methodological problem was represented in the following question: Does metonymy have an existence and role in the poetry of Hassaballah Mahdi Fadlah? What type of metonymies did the poet use to express the meanings and denotations that he wanted to convey to the receptor? This was in three axes, the ax included a metonymy for an attribute, the second ax included a metonymy for a description, and the third ax included a metonymy for a ratio, and this was through its means: (waving, pointing, symbol, and exposure) and the most frequent of them was the metonymy for an adjective. Then the metonymy for a described, then the metonymy for a ratio, which is the least frequent, and this is evidence of the clarity and shortness of the metonymic images that the poet relied on in expressing For this study, we have chosen the descriptive method that relies on analysis, induction, and statistics as its tools, while adhering to objectivity and impartiality in all stages of study and conclusion.
