This research encompasses an art from the arts of the science of hadith, known as the art of authentication (Takhrij). This art has rules and regulations that must be observed. Otherwise, those who deviate from them are susceptible to criticism and censure. Al- Baqai criticized Al- Hafiz Al- Iraqi when he diverged from these rules, as we have observed. Authentication has undergone three stages since the scholars took an interest in it. These stages include the authentication through narration in the early period, then authentication through narration and referencing (Azwa) afterward, and eventually authentication through referencing alone. However, the depiction of authentication solely through referencing, as portrayed by Al- munawi, is contradicted by reality and is contradicted by the fact that referencing waz adopted when the enthusiasm of students for seeking and mastering the rules of narrations waned.
Imam Al- Ayni criticized the commentators of Al-Hidayah (a reference book) for their deviation from these rules and their lack of understanding of this art. This science has become a craft, much like other sciences. Therefore, it is imperative to acquire it and adhere to its rules. Al- Ayni has elucidated many of these rules. These principles demonstrate Al – Aynis position, leadership, involvement, and interest in the art of authentication.
