The city is a permanent gathering of individuals, services, and jobs, with common interests and values. It is a highly organized place controlled by systems established by the government to provide all services, Among them are services of a social nature such as health, education, sports, roads, utilities, places of recreation and entertainment, social clubs and others, Through this study, we will try to expose the concept of the city and the date of its inception, the types of cities and the factors that control the best cities and capitals, and to identify the most important social functions mentioned above, and to pose some of the problems of cities in Algeria and the Arab world.
